Carry Forward
You may show your respondents a question that asks them which products they have bought from your company in the last six months. The selected answers can then be carried forward into the next question to rank their preference.
You can also carry forward all choices from one question to a later question to prevent manually entering the same list into multiple questions.
Because every question references the same list of choices, you would only need to make edits to the first question. Carry Forward ensures later questions automatically reflect your edits.
Applying Carry Forward
To apply Carry Forward:
- Select the question to carry forward answer choices to.
- Click the Question Options drop-down.
- Click Carry Forward Choices.
- Use the first drop-down to set which answer choice(s) to carry forward.
Note: Select All Choices, Selected Choices, or Entered Text—the exact options depend on the question type you’re drawing from. - Use the second drop-down to select the question you want to draw the choices from.
Note: You can only select to reference one previous question. Use Choice Display Logic if you need to reference multiple questions.
Once Carry Forward is applied, all potential items are listed in the follow-up question with green double arrows. The arrow signifies that the answer choice only displays to respondents if they met the condition for that choice.
Edit the choices count in the Editing pane to add additional choice options.
Depending on the type of Carry Forward, a page break may be automatically created to determine the correct answer choices to display.
In addition, if you use answer randomization on the source question, Carry Forward preserves randomization order in the follow-up question.
