Prevent a user from receiving notifications

Navigate to the user and click Edit. Tick the Block Email box and Save. The user will no longer receive communications.

 

Note that users can also be set to Inactive which will prevent emails AND remove their access to the system (this does not automatically remove them from the course). Navigate to the user and click Edit. Change the Status field to Inactive and click Save.
