Add a custom Senior Leader Message

Customers can provide either a video or text senior leader message instead of using the default house leader message within a course. Customers may also provide video transcript files referred to as .vtt. Note that these are not required in order for a video message to be utilized.

 

Only one type of leader message can be utilized - video or text. Since they are applied at the course-level, each course can have their own custom message.

 

Custom messages can be changed or removed at any time. If removed, users will see the default house message; refer to the course information regarding house message format. If changed, new users will see the new message; existing users would need to navigate back to the Leader Message page from their Learn page in order to view the new message.

 

Video
Format: .mp4 or .mov
File Size: less than 200 MB
Length: We recommend between 60-90 seconds; should be less than 3 minutes long

 

  1. Navigate to the course page.
  2. In the Leader Message section, click Import File, locate and select the file, click Import File to close the modal.
  3. Click the blue Save button just above in the Course Settings panel.
  4. Scroll to the top of the page - when the import is complete a green confirmation message will appear. Note that this can take up to a minute to import if the file size is large.

 

Video transcripts - VTT files

If the client also provides .vtt files for video transcripts, repeat the above steps after importing the video file.

 

Text

  1. Navigate to the course page.
  2. In the Leader Message section, click Edit in the Text Leader Message section.
  3. Copy/paste the provided text and adjust any formatting issues.
  4. Click Save.

 

It is strongly suggested to test custom messages by adding a test user to the tenant and then have the Senior Admin delete that user prior to launch:

  1. From the Users List page, click New User.
  2. Name the user Test User with any email - enter a password and confirm the user.
  3. Navigate to the course/s and enroll the Test User.
  4. Click the Test User link in the Users menu of the course to navigate to their profile.
  5. Click Log in As User.
  6. On the Today Page click the link in the Up Next box which directs to the Leader message.
  7. Review the text / watch the video being sure to test the audio.

 

Contact the Senior Admin if issues with playback and/or font rendering are encountered.
