Import or Export User Groups
print icon

User Groups are primarily used for identifying cohorts of users as they are launched into a course. User Groups can be exported in addition to having users imported into them. Users can always be added to user groups manually - the below processes are for convenience and facilitation of launches.

Important Notes

  • User Group must already exist
  • Users must already exist - the import will fail and a message will display denoting which rows on the import are non-existing users

Use Cases

  • Import: assign additional courses
  • Import: customer requests to filter by a specific group of people
  • Export: provide list of participants to a customer without exporting the full user list
  • Export: use file to update Named User License Tracker following a launch

Import to a User Group

  1. Prepare an excel file of user emails by labeling Column A as: email_address. For example, copy/paste emails from a roster. Do not include any other columns.
  2. Navigate to User List > User Groups and select the applicable one or create a new user group if needed.
  3. Click the green Import Users button and follow the prompts to import. Please note that the downloadable template includes fake users so be sure to remove those before using!
  4. A success or failure message will display once the import concludes. Failure messages will include the row number for each email that does not exist in the tenant - note that the import is stopped if it fails and nothing is imported. Remove those emails from the file or add those users to the tenant and repeat the above steps.

Export a User Group

  1. Navigate to User List > User Groups, select the applicable one, then click Export.
