Skip Logic controls the questions respondents will see based on how they answered a previous question.

In this article:

  • Skip Logic

Skip Logic

Skip Logic jumps respondents to a future point of a survey based on a previous response. For example, if a respondent answers “No” on a consent question, you can skip them to an exit message and end their survey.

To add Skip Logic:

  1. Select your question.
  2. Click Add Skip Logic under Actions in the Editing Pane.

  3. The Skip Logic editor box appears at the bottom of the question. In the first dropdown, select the answer choice that will act as a Skip Logic trigger.
(For example, if you only want to include female respondents, skip all men based on the answer choice male.)
  4. In the second dropdown, choose the Skip Logic option that will act as your trigger. (In this case, the Selected response will act as the trigger.)
  5. Next, specify exactly where the respondents will be skipped. You can skip to:
    • Subsequent questions within a block
    • The end of the current block
    • The end of the survey
  6. Click Done.

  7. Repeat the steps to create additional Skip Logic statements on the same question.

After adding Skip Logic to a question, you can select the grey Skip Logic dropdown menu to the right of the logic for more options.

You can have more than one option triggering Skip Logic in the same question. For instance, you can add a Skip Logic statement to each answer choice in a multiple-choice question. Each statement’s option menu will display as a different color to avoid confusion.

Note: Using Skip Logic will always cause a page break after the question.
